2026 Snake Charmers Audition

The RGV Snake Charmers are the official dance team of the RGV Vipers, NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets. We're looking for talented, coachable, hardworking individuals who are passionate about dance, committed to professionalism, and excited to represent the RGV Vipers organization.

Audition Details

Date: Saturday, August 29, 2026
Location: DHR Health Sports & Wellness Center, 315 Mark S. Peña Dr., Edinburg, TX 78539
Registration Begins: 8:00 AM
Audition Fee: $25 (Non-Refundable)

Eligibility Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age
Possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Have reliable transportation
Have no criminal record
Be available for rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Be available for games, appearances, promotional events, and team activities throughout the season

Audition Process

Round One: Sideline Freestyle

Contestants will freestyle to music similar to what is performed during RGV Vipers game days. All contestants will be given a set of poms to freestyle with.

Round Two: Hip Hop Choreography

Semi-finalists will learn approximately 45 seconds of hip hop choreography, with 15 minutes to learn it and 10 minutes to rehearse, before performing in small groups for the judging panel.

Round Three: Jazz & Technique

Finalists will learn an across-the-floor jazz and technique combination, including turns, leaps, and jumps. Any special skills may be demonstrated at this time. The combination is taught in about 10 minutes, with 10 minutes to rehearse.

Finalists

Following the dance rounds, finalists will be announced on social media and automatically advance to the interview portion. Finalists will also be featured in our annual Fan Favorite Voting, where fans can support their favorite finalist.

Interview Process

Held Sunday, August 30, 2026. Finalists will be assigned an individual interview time, held in person, where judges evaluate professionalism, communication skills, personality, and overall fit for the organization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need professional dance experience?

No. Dancers from a variety of backgrounds are encouraged to audition. Judges evaluate overall performance quality, coachability, professionalism, and potential.

Can my family watch auditions?

Spectator tickets can be purchased at the door.

What happens if I make the team?

Selected candidates begin Training Camp on September 1 and continue training leading up to the official Team Announcement on September 5 and the start of the season.
