VIPERS SWEEP TWO GAME SERIES AGAINST IOWA

Edinburg, Texas (March 11, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (15-12), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated the Iowa Wolves (8-19) 123-115 Saturday night at Bert Ogden Arena. 

RGV opened up the first quarter by taking a 12-11 lead over the Wolves. Iowa then took a 16-14 lead, but RGV came back for the lead and walked away with a 29-26 advantage at the end of the first. 

The Vipers continued to extend its lead in the second quarter as the team led 45-40 with 6:38 left. At the end of the second RGV led 66-60. 

During the third quarter the Vipers maintained the lead the entire way and sent the game into the fourth with a score of 102-92. RGV kept the momentum going into the fourth quarter which resulted in a 123-115 victory for the team.

Houston Rockets Two-Way player Darius Days led the Vipers with a double-double 32 points and 14 rebounds. Trhae Mitchell also posted a double-double with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Jarrett Culver contributed 16 points while Houston Rockets Two-Way player Trevor Hudgins scored 15 points. Ray Spalding finished with 12 points. 

Craig Randall II posted a double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds. Minnesota Timberwolves Two-Way player Luka Garza finished with another double-double, 23 points and 13 rebounds. Minnesota Timberwolves Two-Way player Matt Lewis finished with 21 points. Matt Ryan put up 12 points while Jordy Tshimanga posted 10 rebounds. 

The Vipers will travel to Mississippi to take on the Memphis Hustle in back-to-back matchups set for Friday, March 17 and Saturday March 18 at 7:00 p.m. CT. Both games can be streamed via the www.NBAGLeague.com website. For more information visit www.rgvipers.com
