VIPERS PARTNER UP WITH DRISCOLL HEALTH SYSTEM TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL EXPO

EDINBURG, Texas (July 25, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that the team will be partnering up with Driscoll Health Plan and Driscoll Children’s Hospital to host the third annual “Back to School Expo”.

The event is free to the public and will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. CT inside the Bert Ogden Arena located at 4900 S, I-69C, Edinburg, Texas. 

The “Back to School Expo” is a community initiative that will allow children from around the Rio Grande Valley to receive essential back to school supplies, for the upcoming school year, from different organizations in the community. The first 1,000 children in attendance will receive a free backpack, courtesy of Driscoll Health Plan. 

For the first time ever, the event will also feature the opportunity for kids to receive vaccines and school physicals that are required for students to participate in athletic activities. Families interested in having their children receive vaccines or physicals the day of, may schedule an appointment beforehand via this link CLICK HERE. Children who pre-register for vaccines or physicals will receive a complimentary Vipers branded lunchbox, all courtesy of Driscoll Health Plan. 

“With open hearts and unwavering support, Driscoll Health Plan champions more than 100 back to school events in 24 counties. In the spirit of unity, Driscoll Health Plan, RGV Vipers and other community partners, will be extending a helping hand to ensure our children have a healthy and safe return to school,” said Driscoll Health Plan Community Outreach Manager Rose Santos.

“The event will offer school supplies, sports physicals, and vaccinations to empower our youth to thrive in both body and mind, fostering a brighter and healthier future for all. Until all kids are well Driscoll will continue to work hard in our communities”.

H-E-B, DHR Health, Lone Star National Bank, HKC Law Firm, Whataburger, Cane’s, Manzela USA, Cornerstone Orthopedic Institute, Ashley Pediatrics, the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department and many others will be present to distribute back to school items, while supplies last.
