VIPERS DROP HOME OPENER AGAINST MAGIC 

EDINBURG, Texas (Nov. 22, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (2-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, fell 143-127 to the Osceola Magic (3-2) on Wednesday night at Bert Ogden Arena.

It was a back-and-forth battle between both teams during the first quarter. The quarter was tied three times before the Vipers were able to pull away with a slight three-point lead and a score of 35-32. 

RGV kept the momentum going in the second quarter as the team had a 13-point lead with 7:48 on the clock. However, the momentum was put to a halt after Osceola came from behind and took a 70-64 lead. 

What was once a six-point lead for the Magic turned into a 15-point lead in the third quarter which turned into a 110-95 game. 

During the fourth quarter the Vipers tried to come back, but Osceola pulled away with a 143-127 victory.

Houston Rockets assignment Cam Whitmore had 25 points followed by Jarrett Culver with 20 points. Houston Rockets Two-Way players Jermaine Samuels Jr. and Nate Hinton both scored 17 points each. Darius Day put up 15 points followed by Josh Obiesie with 12 points. 

Lakeland Magic Two-Way Trevelin Queen led all scorers with 37 points. Orlando Magic assignment Jett Howard contributed 34 points followed by Mac McClung who scored 25 points. Brandon Williams posted the only double-double of the night with 22 points and 12 assists. Daeqwon Plowden also scored in the double digits with 11 points.
