VIPERS DEFEATED BY CAPITAL CITY

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Feb. 6, 2024) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (12-4), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, were defeated 135-117 by the Capital City Go-Go (8-7) on Tuesday night at Entertainment and Sports Arena.
Capital City tipped-off the game with a lead but RGV tied it at 10-10 with 8:16 to go. The Go-Go then recovered the lead and maintained it until the Vipers jumped out on top and set the score at 21-20 in its favor. The quarter was then closed with a 33-27 advantage for the visiting team.
The second quarter was filled with lead changes and neither team could fully pull away until there was less than three minutes remaining on the clock. Capital-City picked up the momentum in the last few minutes of the quarter and walked off with a seven-point lead (67-60) at the break.
In the second half of the game the Go-Go continued to extend its lead. At the end of the third Capital City led by 20. In the fourth quarter the home team led by as many as 30 points, but the Vipers cut that lead to 18 and ended the game with a 135-117 loss.
Houston Rockets Two-Way Nate Williams and Darius Days led all scorers with 26 points each. Joshua Obiesie contributed a career-high 22 points. Ray Spalding added 14 points.
Washington Wizards Two-Way Jules Bernard paved the way for Capital City with 25 points followed by Taylor Funk with 22 and Johnny Davis with 19.
