VIPERS ANG MAGIC SPLIT SERIES

EDINBURG, Texas (Nov. 24, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (3-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, defeated the Osceola Magic (3-3) on Friday night at Bert Ogden Arena.

The first few minutes of the game were a tight race to the top for both teams. After being tied twice, the score was 11-8. RGV then went on a 15-0 run and set the score at 26-8 with 4:56 to go in the quarter. Osceola then went on to score 16 points while RGV only scored 10 points which set the game at 36-24 in favor of the home team. 

During the second quarter the Magic outscored the Vipers, but despite Osceola’s efforts the Vipers still remained with a 77-66 lead at the end of the half. 

Osceola picked up the rhythm in the third quarter and closed the gap between both teams. At the end of the third quarter RGV still had a slight 103-97 lead over the Magic. 

RGV was still in the lead throughout the fourth quarter, but Osecola was putting up a fight. With less than two minutes to go the Magic trailed by two points and a score of 133-131. Houston Rockets Two-Way player Jermaine Samuels then scored two points for the team which set the score at 135-131. After that, the Vipers pulled away with a 137-133 victory. 

Houston Rockets assignment Cam Whitmore and Jarrett Culver both finished the night with 25 points. Darius Days finished the night with 24 points. Samuels Jr. finished with a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Jalen Lecque rounded up the list of double digits with 12 points. 

Orlando Magic Two-Way Trevelin Queen led all scorers with a double-double 34 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Williams and Mac McClung contributed 25 and 23 points, respectively. Daeqwon Plowden had 21 points followed by Alex Morales with 13 points.
