STANLEY AND DAYS LEAD VIPERS PAST LEGENDS IN CAREER-HIGH NIGHT

Frisco, Texas (Nov. 26, 2022) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (5-3) walked away with a 143-132 victory over the Texas Legends (5-5) on Saturday night at Comerica Center. 

With just two and a half minutes after tip-off, the Vipers went on a 15-0 run and took control of the game. Thirty seconds after that, the Legends scored its first bucket of the game making the score 15-2. Texas continued to make an attempt to decrease the Vipers lead, but at the end of the first the Vipers led 47-20, shot 70% from the field and 60% from the three.   

During the second quarter the Vipers hoped to extend its lead even further, but the Legends turned up the heat and managed to minimize the Vipers lead by 16 points, sending the game into halftime with a score of 79-63. 

In the third quarter the Vipers extended its lead to 118-94 but the fourth quarter was a hot one for the Legends. Despite the lead that the Vipers had, the Legends managed to narrow the gap of the game during the last few minutes of the quarter by outscoring RGV 38-25. Despite the efforts of the Legends, the Vipers managed to walk away with a 143-132 victory. 

Cassius Stanley paved the way for the Vipers as he scored a career-high 32 points from off the bench. Louis King finished the night with 27 points. Houston Rockets Two-Way player Darius Days hit a double-double with 25 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Houston Rockets assignment TyTy Washington Jr. posted 23 points, six rebounds and seven assists. Houston Rockets Two-Way, Trevor Hudgins, was one assist short of a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Trhae Mitchell posted 10 rebounds. 

Dallas Mavericks assignment Jaden Hardy led the night with a career-high 41 points, six rebounds and six assists. Mavericks Two-Way players Tyler Dorsey and McKinley Wright IV hit 26 and 23 points, respectively. Taze Moore scored 11 points and had eight rebounds. Josh Nzeakor put up 10 points. 

The Vipers return to the court on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. for its annual Kid’s Day game against the Birmingham Squadron at Bert Ogden Arena. All children in attendance will receive an interactive lesson about inclusion, being drug free and combating bullying. Children will also receive a custom educational workbook and will have the opportunity to learn about the college experience from different college recruiters onsite.
