EDINBURG, Texas (Friday, Feb. 26, 2021) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today the acquisition of forward/center Dewan Hernandez via trade with Raptors 905. In exchange, 905 will receive guard Jarron Cumberland and Stockton Kings’ original 2nd round pick in the 2021-22 NBA G League Draft via Canton Charge. Trade is not subject to a physical.

The 6-10-foot big man has appeared in nine games for the Raptors, averaging 7.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per 14.7 minutes played.

Prior to the 2020-21 season, Hernandez spent time with the Toronto Raptors and as an assigned player with the 905 during the 2019-20 campaign. Hernandez averaged 2.3 points, 2.3 rebounds in 4.7 minutes of action in a total of six NBA games. With the 905, Hernandez made nine starts while averaging 13.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.0 blocks.

Cumberland appeared in four games for the Vipers this season. RGV will face Canton Charge tomorrow, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. CT.
