About The RGV Vipers and NBA G League:
The Four-time champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers are the NBA G League affiliate of the NBA Houston Rockets. The NBA's official minor league, the NBA G League prepares players, coaches officials, training and front-office staff for the NBA while acting as the league's research and development laboratory. Featuring 31 teams, 29 with direct affiliations to NBA franchises for 2023-24, the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. 55 percent of all players on end-of-season 2022-24 NBA rosters boasted NBA G League experience. The team won NBA G League Championships in 2010, 2013, 2019 and 2022 and play at the Bert Ogden Arena.
Job Summary:
This position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure corporate sponsorship and partnerships for the organization. Your primary goal will be to generate revenue through the sale of sponsorship packages, aligning with the company's objectives and enhancing its brand visibility. You will collaborate with internal teams to create compelling sponsorship proposals, negotiate contracts, and build strong, long-lasting relationships with corporate partners as well as focus on servicing all aspects of client contracts and service fulfillment. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Market Analysis and Research:
Conduct market research to identify potential sponsors and assess industry trends. Analyze competitor sponsorship programs and benchmarks.
Sponsorship Strategy:
Develop a comprehensive sponsorship strategy aligned with the organization's goals. Identify key target industries and companies for sponsorship opportunities.
Proposal Development:
Collaborate with the team members and creative teams to create attractive and compelling sponsorship packages.Customize proposals based on the needs and objectives of potential sponsors.
Sales and Negotiation:
Proactively reach out to potential sponsors through cold calling, networking, and other sales techniques. Conduct presentations and meetings to pitch to sponsorship opportunities to negotiate terms, pricing, and contractual agreements.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate sponsors. Act as the main point of contact for sponsors, addressing inquires and concerns. Ensure the fulfillment of sponsorship deliverables and obligations.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
Work closely with the marketing, events, and communications teams to integrate sponsorships seamlessly into the overall marketing strategy. Provide input on promotional materials, ensuring they align with sponsor expectations. Regular report on sponsorship revenue, achievements, and challenges to management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Excellent business research and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal, written, and presentation skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task. Ability to meet challenging sales objectives in a high profile, competitive marketplace. Experienced in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Strong written and oral communications skills. Excellent customer service. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Education and Experience:
Four-year college degree. Experience in partnerships and sales in professional sports preferred. Ability to handle heavy outbound phone call and email volume (50 calls & 50 emails a day.) Proven revenue generator with a track-record of achieving annual sales targets.
Physical requirements:
Must be able to carry/move/handle 15 pounds. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Move in a fast-paced environment that will occasionally be loud.
