VIPERS CONQUER  STOCKTON

EDINBURG, Texas (Feb. 28, 2024) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (13-7), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, obtained a 119-91 victory over the Stockton Kings (14-8) on Wednesday afternoon at Adventist Health Arena. 

Stockton and RGV battled it out for the lead in the first four minutes of the game. There was no evident leader in the game until the Vipers pulled away with a score of 12-10. The team remained on top until Stockton came from behind and tied it at 20-20 with five minutes left. RGV then responded by going on a 12-3 run and sealed the first quarter with a score of 32-23. 

RGV hit the ground running in the second quarter and never once looked back as the team closed the quarter with a nine-point spread (60-51). 

The Kings started the third quarter on a 5-0 run and cut the lead to four. The Vipers then responded by going on a 15-0 run and made the game 75-56. Stockton then went on a 11-0 run and clipped the Vipers lead to 10 which set the game at 75-67. Despite Stockton’s run, the visiting team still had an 86-71 advantage. 

In the fourth quarter RGV dominated from the start and kept the momentum going until the whistle blew which allowed the team to walk off with a 119-91 victory. 

Jarrett Culver led all scorers with 27 points. Darius Days contributed 20 points. Also scoring in the double digits were Houston Rockets Two-Way Jermaine Samuels Jr. (16), Ray Spalding (15) and Trhae Mitchell (12). Houston Rockets Two-Way Nate Hinton finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Stockton was led by Sacramento Kings Two-Way’s Jalen Slawson who posted a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Jordan Ford also with 16 points. Skal Labissiere finished with 12 points. Also, with a double-double was Sacramento Kings assignee Colby Jones with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
