VIPERS ACQUIRE RETURNING RIGHTS TO LECQUE

EDINBURG, Texas (Sept. 28, 2022) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that they have acquired the returning player rights to Jalen Lecque from Raptors 905. In exchange, RGV has agreed to trade the returning player rights of Christian Vital to the Raptors. This trade is not subject to a physical.

Lecque (6-4,185 lbs.) most recently participated in the NBA Summer League with the Dallas Mavericks where he saw action in five games averaging 3.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 10.4 minutes.

The guard spent the 2021-22 season with the Wisconsin Herd of the G League. In 28 games he averaged 29.6 minutes of playing time, 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.3 assists and shot 69.7% from the free-throw line. During the 2021 NBA Summer League, Lecque played in two games for the Oklahoma City Blue averaging 14.5 minutes, 7.0 points and 1.0 assists.

For the 2020-21 season, Lecque played in 14 games with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants. The New York native averaged 30.3 minutes, 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.0 steals. Lecque also saw playing time with the Indiana Pacers in four games.

In 2019 he made his G League debut with the Northern Arizona Suns. The 22-year-old appeared in 33 games, 23 of which he started, averaging 26.6 minutes, 13.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists. In July 2019 the guard signed his first NBA contract with the Phoenix Suns and appeared with the team for a total of five games. That same year, Lecque made his NBA Summer League debut with Phoenix where he played in four games.

Last season, Vital played in 28 games for the Vipers. He saw 21.7 minutes of playing time and averaged 13.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 steals and shot 71.7% from the free-throw line.

The Vipers tip-off the 2022-23 season on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 6:00 p.m. CT against the Mexico City Capitanes at Mexico City Arena.
