EDINBURG, Texas (October 24, 2019) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced Thursday that they have acquired the returning player rights to forward Jaron Blossomgame from Canton Charge in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Gary Payton II.

Blossomgame (6’8, 220 lbs.) appeared in 27 games, started in four, for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018-19 season. He averaged 4.2 points, 3.6 total rebounds and 0.5 assists in 16.3 minutes of action. Blossomgame was originally drafted in the 2nd round, 59th pick overall, of the 2017 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

As a Clemson alumnus, Blossomgame played all four years for the Tigers averaging an overall 13.5 points, 6.5 total rebounds, 1.1 assists in 30.7 minutes of action. As a junior, Blossomgame averaged the highest in his time at Clemson where he averaged 18.7 points, 6.7 total rebounds and 1.5 assists.

The NBA G League Draft will take place on Saturday, October 26 at 12 p.m. CT with the Vipers making their selection in the first, second and fourth round.
